Lark Alumni are members of the Lark community who have participated as writers in the following programs: Playwright’s Workshop, Public Readings, Studio Retreat and BareBones. We offer three programs,Winter Writers Retreat, Monthly Meeting of the Minds, Writers' Retreat, hosted by Theresa Rebeck, and Playground; each is designed to target specific needs of the writers. Now in its third year, our alumni programs have been very successful and we are pleased to be able to sustain them.

WINTER WRITERS’ RETREAT
This is a program designed to support the generation of new material where writers meet for six sessions over an intensive 8-day period to share excerpts of new work. The sessions are facilitated by two Lark directors. Writers will read the work aloud themselves with two actors present to help support the reading process.

MONTHLY MEETING OF THE MINDS
A group of writers meet monthly to share work on Tuesday evenings. This is a writers' group where material is a read cold around a table without actors. Writers may bring in work at various stages of development. Feedback is tailored to the needs of the writer and the stage of development of the piece. Two directors co-facilitate the sessions.

Monthly Meeting of the Minds meets at 6:30 pm -10:30pm Tuesday, once every month.

NEW YORK STAGE AND FILM
Lark artists spend the week in a writers' retreat developing new work.

PLAYGROUND
This program is designed for playwrights interested in exploring work on its feet with directors and actors. Four writers, three directors, and six to eight actors play with sections of new material, as if in rehearsal, through improvisation and experimentation. Writers may bring in work at various stages of development. Playground sessions happen twice monthly in the Lark Studio on Tuesday evenings.

WRITER'S RETREAT, HOSTED BY THERESA REBECK
This annual spring retreat for playwrights, a collaboration with Lark and Dorset Theatre Festival, is now in its 3^rd year.  Seven playwrights live together for a week in Theresa Rebeck’s Dorset home where they write, share their work with each other, and offer feedback in a supportive, nurturing environment, away from the bright lights of the city.  Later, in the summer, the writers share selections of their work with the Dorset community, as part of The Dorset Theatre Festival's New Play Reading Series.
