Barclay Palmer is an Emmy Award-winning journalist and producer, Barclay is principle of Black Birch LLC, a consulting firm providing editorial, branding, production and partnership development for startups in media, energy and other businesses, as well as for nonprofits and foundations. Barclay also serves as Board Director and Chairman of the Board's Marketing and Communications Committee for SimpliPhi Power Inc., playing a senior role in strategy, communications, hiring, legal matters, and investor relations.
Previously, Barclay has held managerial and editorial roles with leading global news and media outlets, including CBS, CNN, Thomson Reuters, Bloomberg, and Newsweek Media Group. He created the original, Webby-winning Reuters TV as one of the first Original Content Partners with YouTube and Google.
Barclay played senior roles in launching and producing CNN’s original Amanpour, Anderson Cooper 360, and NewsNight with Aaron Brown (2.0). He was a founding producer for CNN NewsStand and CNN & Fortune. He played a senior role in designing and managing digital and social media strategies and programming at CBS News Digital, CNN, and Newsweek. He has won or been nominated for more than three dozen journalism awards.
Barclay is an investor in several early stage renewable energy, retail, and media companies. He earned a Master's of Science in Journalism from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism and graduated cum laude from Amherst College.
