DEBORAH McALISTER is a poet and playwright who first came to The Lark in 1996 to hear one of her plays read aloud. She has been a Trustee since 2010 and currently serves on the Committee of Trustees, which is charged with expanding and strengthening the board of this rapidly growing cultural organization. She played an active role in the Capital Campaign Committee when the company moved to its new space near Times Square and served as Benefit Chair for its Twentieth Anniversary Celebration Gala. As a poet, her work has been published in journals including Fling Quarterly and The Asheville Poetry Review. She also works as an Associate Poetry Editor for the online journal Tupelo Quarterly. McAlister is a native New Yorker, a graduate of Yale University and the Columbia Graduate School of Business Administration, and the mother of three sons.
