LARRY SHUMAN is the Founder and President of The Shuman
Company, an entertainment management/production firm specializing in the development of television and film writers. An avid admirer of plays and playwriting, he came to observe The Lark’s Rita Goldberg Playwrights’ Workshop in 2004 and soon afterwards joined the Board. He is a frequent advisor to Lark playwrights who seek careers in television. For many years, he has hosted a mammoth late night party celebrating writers at the annual Humana Festival for New American Plays in Louisville, Kentucky. In television, Larry’s most well-known clients include Shawn Ryan, creator of The Shield; David Shore, creator and showrunner of House; Hunt Baldwin & John Coveny, creators of Longmire for Netflix; and Tim Minear, showrunner of FX’s American Horror Story. Notable film clients include Carl Ellsworth, writer of the DreamWorks features Disturbia and Red Eye, and Robert Tannen, scribe of The Hungry Rabbit Jumps, starring Nicholas Cage. As a producer, his projects include the upcoming Sony film Concussion, starring Will Smith, and Marc Cherry’s Devious Maids for Lifetime.
