Playwrights First seeks plays containing imagination and originality in both style and subject or point of view, characters that intrigue and move, a compelling action which reveals the human condition, and inherent theatricalism. A $1,000 grant will be offered for the winning play, as well as, when feasible, a professional reading before a New York audience. More Information

Landing Theatre Company

From August 1 - September 30 The Landing Theatre Company accepts full-length plays for the New American Voices Play Reading Series. Four plays will be selected for staged readings during the Landing Theatre Company's Spring Festival in Houston, Texas. Selected playwrights must attend the readings. UPSTREAM ARTISTS' COLLECTIVE

Now entering its second season, the Upstream Artists’ Collective of Brooklyn, New York is looking for script solicitations from local, national, and international playwrights, that have a focus on environmental and climate change concerns with a story-driven, rather than didactic approach. Upstream Artists' Collective's season will engage the practice of “greenwashing”: businesses falsely marketing their products and services as sustainable. Upstream seeks writers that can use this as inspiration for exciting and provocative new plays. More Information

The Jewish Plays Project is accepting submissions for its 2017 Season! The JPP seeks full length plays or musicals with significant, contemporary Jewish content. SUBMISSIONS ARE OPEN TO ARTISTS OF ALL BACKGROUNDS, DENOMINATIONS, FAITHS, CREEDS, RELIGIONS and other IDEALS. We believe that Jewish identity and culture are specific manifestations of universal human cravings for spiritual, ethical, moral and worldly joy. “Matrilineal descent” is neither important nor necessary. NATIVE VOICES

Native Voices is currently accepting submissions of full-length plays by Native American writers addressing all themes and topics to be considered for inclusion in the 2017 Playwrights Retreat and Festival of New Plays. The retreat and festival bring artists to Los Angeles to work on 3-5 plays through a rigorous directorial and dramaturgical commitment for 8-10 days. The retreat culminates in public presentations of the plays at the Autry Museum of the American West in Los Angeles and La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego. More Information
