Yale Drama Series

The Yale Drama Series is seeking submissions for its 2019 playwriting competition. The winning play will be selected by the series’ current judge, Ayad Akhtar. The winner will be awarded the David Charles Horn Prize of $10,000, publication of his/her manuscript by Yale University Press, and a staged reading at the Lincoln Center. LEARN MORE
The Bridge Initiative: Women in Theatre

The Bridge Initiative is accepting submissions for The Bechdel Test Festival. Work must be in development with a cast limit of eight (8) and writers must have an understanding of the next stages needed towards the creation of their play. Playwrights of all genders are encouraged to submit plays that satisfy the requirements of the Bechdel Test: Two female characters who talk to each other about something other than a man. $25 Submission Fee. New Light New Voices is a program and development platform designed to support unique theater voices. From readings to workshops to full productions, the program seeks dynamic playwrights in the theater community in order to give them an opportunity to work with NLTP's ensemble and extended network of artists. Ensemble Playwright Lab

A residency program in which the playwright engages with Letter of Marque Theater Co.'s ensemble to create, develop, or reimagine a piece of work. Blue Ink Playwriting Award

Each year American Blues Theater accepts worldwide submissions of original, unpublished full-length plays. The winning play will be selected by Artistic Director Gwendolyn Whiteside and the theater’s Ensemble. 20% Theatre Company’s 2019 Q-STAGE

New Works Series seeks proposals from Minnesota-based, queer-identifying, early career artists in need of stage space and resources to further develop and share new work with each other and the community. Four (4) applicants will be selected to participate in a 6-month development process, including independent work, open rehearsals, group workshops, critical feedback sessions and production meetings, culminating in public performances at Phoenix Theater in Minneapolis.
