Talk Back Theatre

Deadline: February 15, 2020

TBT is celebrating playwrights and highlighting social, political, and environmental issues through a quarterly playwriting prize. Plays should be full-length and clearly connect to the thematic prompt of plays that highlight inter-generational relationships. The selected play's writer will receive a small cash prize, along with an endorsement from TBT on New Play Exchange (and/or for use on personal websites).

New Light New Voices

Deadline: February 15, 2020

Now accepting original, unpublished full-length plays. Playwrights must be NYC-based. The winner will receive $1000, developmental support and a 4-week production run in the summer of 2021.

Brooklyn Arts Exchange 2020 Space Grants

Deadline: February 24, 2020

The Space Grant program is designed to give NYC based dance, theater, and performance artists the opportunity to create new work in a setting that is conducive to working deeply and exploring new territory.​ There are two Space Grant program periods. Applicants must choose only one: 

Summer Space Grant (June 29-August 21, 2020, 8 week residency). 50 hours of free developmental rehearsal space per artist/group. $350 stipend. Informal Show & Share. **(Evenings and Weekend space available only.);

Fall Space Grant (September 8-December 18, 2020, 15 week residency). 100 hours of free rehearsal space. $500 stipend. Informal Show & Share, and Performance Showcase.

Capital Stage Playwrights' Revolution

This series of staged readings seeks to identify and develop exciting new plays and playwrights. These new works are brought to theatrical life through a series of staged readings performed by professional actors in Capital Stage’s intimate theater. Capital Stage invites audiences to take part in the new play development process by attending readings and participating in post-reading discussion.

Project Y Theatre: Women in Theatre Festival

Project Y is seeking productions of plays that are written by a female identifying playwright and that feature more than 50% female-identifying characters. Chosen productions will get a performance slot in A.R.T. New York’s Gural Theatre as part of the Women in Theatre Festival. This opportunity is ideal for director/playwright who want a no-risk opportunity to see and hear their work out loud in front of an audience, festival-ready shows, or one-person performances.

Dramatists Guild Foundation Fellows

The Fellows program is a selective, year-long intensive for playwrights, composers, lyricists, and bookwriters. The program pairs talented writers with accomplished professional mentors, who help them hone their process, and find their unique voice.
