The Relentless Award
Deadline: June 15
The Relentless Award, established in honor of Philip Seymour Hoffman, is a $45,000 award for a playwright in recognition of a new play that is relentlessly truthful. The winning playwright will have a week-long residency at SPACE on Ryder Farm. The Relentless Winning play, along with Finalists and Semifinalists, will receive development opportunities through the Ed Vassallo Relentless Reading Series. MORE INFO
BETC's Generations Residency
Deadline: June 15
In order to support the work of parent playwrights, BETC is seeking full-length plays written by a parent with at least one child 18 years of age or younger. The winning playwright will receive a week-long workshop residency in Boulder, Colorado, from January 6-11, 2020, with daily rehearsals, culminating in a staged reading of the selected script; a stipend for travel and lodging; a $500 prize; and a $500 childcare stipend. The Civilians R&D Group
Deadline: June 17
The Civilians R&D Group is comprised of theater artists from various disciplines, interested in exploring different strategies for making theater. The group is organized around the idea of investigative theater, broadly defined as any creative process of inquiry that feeds the creation of a performative work. The artists meet on a regular basis for nine months to share their work, and the program culminates in a public work-in-progress showing. MORE INFO
Modern Works Festival
Deadline: June 28, or the first 300 submissions
Urbanite Theatre seeks work from emerging and established female and female-identifying playwrights. Three finalists will be chosen to participate in a festival of readings in Sarasota, Florida. Fred Ebb Award
Deadline: June 30
The Fred Ebb Award, a $60,000 prize, is given annually to a composer/lyricist or composer/lyricist team creating work for the musical theater, who have not yet have achieved significant commercial success. MORE INFO
