Cincinatti LAB Theatre's New Works Festival

Deadline: March 31

Cincinnati LAB Theatre is planning its eighth producing season and is now accepting submissions to fill staged reading slots for its New Works Festival in the summer of 2021. To be considered for a staged reading a playwright must submit an original, unpublished, fully realized script of at least 30 minutes in length. Only plays with no more than 6 characters will be accepted. Playwrights must be available to be present for at least 50% of the workshop/rehearsal process and during at least one performance. Submissions will be accepted December 11, 2020 through March 31st, 2021. LEARN MORE>


Egg & Spoon's Incubation Series

Deadline: April 1st, 11:59pm EST

Egg & Spoon’s 2021 Incubation Series provides developmental support for three BIPoC writers’ full-length plays over the summer of 2021. This expands previous Egg & Spoon programming by facilitating fifteen-hour workshops for playwrights. This submission process is open to all Black writers, Indigenous writers, and writers of color. Each finalist will receive a fifteen-hour developmental workshop along with dramaturgical support, staff feedback, and an optional public reading. Each writer will receive a stipend of $300, and all artists engaged in the workshop will be paid an equitable amount. LEARN MORE>


54th Annual John Gassner Memorial Playwriting Award

Deadline: April 15th

The John Gassner Memorial Playwriting Award Competition fosters new playwrights and scripts through this important competition established by Molly Gassner, wife of theatre historian John Gassner. The Award was created in 1967 to honor the late John Gassner (1903-1967) for his lifetime dedication to all aspects of professional and academic theatre. This award will be administered by a panel of judges named by the NETC Executive Board. A staged reading of the award-winning scripts will be given at the NETC annual awards ceremony. LEARN MORE>


Athena Project Plays in Progress Series

Deadline: April 15

Athena Project is now accepting submissions from women, trans and gender-nonconforming individuals for its Plays In Progress Series. Selected playwrights work in consultation with a dramaturg, director, and cast to see their works performed at various levels, from table reads to staged performances, and receive audience feedback from post-presentation discussions.
