Our Year in Numbers: The Lark's 2018-19 Season

Lark News
A series of numbers, all jumbled up, in blue type, form the shape of a bird.

The Numbird is back with all the stats on The Lark's latest season! We measure success by more than just numbers, but nevertheless, it can be exciting at the end of the year to tally up all the artists and community members who passed through our space, or experienced a Lark-developed play beyond our doors, and get a snapshot of the impact our programs can have. And so, since we will do just about anything to support playwrights, even math, here we go!

In the 2018-19 season The Lark served:

445 artists

including 76 playwrights, 27 directors, and 287 actors!

We held 35 public readings and events, sharing new plays in process with

1,789 audience members

as well as over 1,000 more virtual viewers who tuned in to Facebook Live!

And, in addition to our public programs, The Lark held

68 Roundtables

to give space for intimate, table readings of dozens of new plays.

For our fellowship and play development opportunities we received

1,333 script submissions

with a record-breaking 1,245 coming through our Playwrights' Week program!

And finally, we tracked where Lark-developed plays have gone on to production all around the world, and this season, we counted

42 plays went on to 75 productions in 44 cities

reaching a total audience of over

380, 330 people!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us during the season, making it another memorable year of new stories. We hope to see you again in 2019-20, and if you aren't already signed up for our mailing list, subscribe now to stay in the loop about all things Lark!
