Business of Art
- Two-Day Workshop. The workshop takes place three times a year and focuses on a range of topics including goal setting, budgeting, cash flow, and investments. Playwrights are interviewed in advance of the workshop by Elaine, and then attend in cohorts of 12 participants over a two-day period.
- Advanced Sessions. We are creating a series of advanced sessions based the needs of playwrights. Classes are offered on a rotating basis and the curriculum continues to evolve. Past class topics have included: time management, taxes and health insurance, networking, negotiation, and pricing.
This workshop has been an important milestone in the careers of participating playwrights as well as a launching pad for projects that may not otherwise move forward due to a lack of skills, resources, or both. Writers develop entrepreneurial skills, gain confidence in their business abilities, and are in a better position to shape a more sustainable career.
The Selection Process
Business of Art is free to participants. Participation is by invitation only.
