Middle Eastern American Writers Lab
The Program
The Middle Eastern American Writers Lab at The Lark is a New York City-based home for writers of Middle Eastern descent. Founded in 2018 by Mona Mansour & Kareem Fahmy, the Lab creates a safe space for playwrights, television writers, and screenwriters to share their work, support one another, and discuss the past, present, and future of Middle Eastern storytelling on American stages and screens.
The Impact
The Lab is committed to giving a platform for writers of Middle Eastern descent to be recognized at a national level, as part of a larger movement towards Middle Eastern inclusion in the arts. The Middle Eastern American Writers Lab is designed to be a space for storytellers whose work aims to complicate the narrative of the Middle East and Middle East American experience.
The Selection Process
Participation is curated at the discretion of the group.
