The New Black Fest at The Lark
COVID-19 Update: Due to restrictions brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, this program will be on hiatus until further notice.
Since 2015, The Lark has partnered with The New Black Fest in its week-long event of celebrating, advocating for, and showcasing diverse and provocative work in a festival of Black theater artists from throughout the Diaspora. With talkbacks and panel events surrounding a 10-hour rehearsal process and public staged reading for a series of plays in progress, The New Black Fest at The Lark provides an opportunity to build a community conversation around the development of new plays.
The Lark is proud to serve as a partner to The New Black Fest in its mission to celebrate insurgent voices within the diverse African diaspora through theater, music, and discussion. The program aims to gather artists, thinkers, activists, and audiences who are dedicated to stretching, interrogating, and uplifting the multiplicity of the Black aesthetic.
The Selection Process
