Losing You, Which Is Enough
by Mallory Weiss
The week of her wedding, Cap – a selkie (half-woman, half-seal) with an adventurous spirit - runs from her magical, underwater home to the world above (Earth – Long Beach Island, NJ?), leaving her high-strung best friend, Pinni, to occupy Cap’s concerned fiancé, Brendan. But when the underwater ministry council votes to destroy the world above (Humans have disrupted and destroyed nature for long enough.), Cap must decide whether to risk dying with her now-sister, Jane, or face her fear of being normal. A play about sisterhood and saying goodbye; seals and piano teachers; the world ending and feeling as though it might. This story is dedicated to my mother, for the sisters she’s lost and the ones she’s taught me to adopt.
