Grands is a trans grandparent. Jaime is their tomboy granddaughter. They are both obsessed with Joan of Arc. Grands wakes up from gender reassignment surgery speaking French and claiming they survived a fire. The same day, Jaime, who has been pretending to be Joan of Arc for weeks, goes missing. The play takes Jaime back in time to medieval France where she has to play the role of Joan at crucial moments in her story. Meanwhile Ted, their next-door neighbor, believes he might have met Grands in a past life and reminds Grands of when they were Joan of Arc. Ultimately Grands must find a way to release Jaime from the Joan cycle and bring her back from medieval France, but will she ever be the same?
